Juan and Jose Loza: our story

We were born in Lima, Peru. We grew up in a family with a strong attraction for the dental field. Our father and mentor, Dr. David Loza was the Dean of our Dental School. We have also a sister and a younger brother that are practicing dentists. Excellence in dentistry is the main theme as we were trained by our father. Postgraduated education in the U.S. was the path given to us as we graduated from dental school. In the late 1960s, our father trained as a prosthodontist at the University of Maryland, he then returned to Peru ,where he set up a very successful dental practice, that he still runs with our sister. He also maintained an academic position at our Dental School. We followed on our father's path and we both were extremely lucky to be accepted and successfully complete our post-doctoral residencies at the University of Maryland. After a few additional academic and professional experiences, we decided to pursue our dream of partnering together to practice dentistry with excellence and honesty in mind, the qualities instilled on us by our father. To our delight, we met Dr. Ralph Lazaro in Great Falls. We know Dr. Lazaro has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years with the same goals of excellence and honesty toward his patients. We are proud to follow on his footsteps. Great Falls is the community we will be calling home for many years to come.  

Ralph Lazaro, DDS

Dr. Lazaro grew up in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate Studies at the University of Dayton and graduated from the Georgetown School of Dentistry. He completed a post doctoral general practice residency at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. After serving his country aboard the U.S.S. Vulcan, he began his Dental practice in Great Falls in 1975.  For many years, he taught clinical Crown & Bridge at Georgetown University Dental School. Dr. Lazaro is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society and Great Falls Business and Professional Association (GFBPA).

Jose Loza, DDS

Dr. Jose Loza is married to Andrea Coloma and resides in Virginia with their two children, Nicole and Mateo, ages 5 and 2 respectively. He enjoys playing tennis and golf. After dental school, Jose pursued advanced dental training at the University of Maryland Dental School, graduating as the most accomplished resident in his class. Since completing his residency in 2001, he has been practicing dentistry in Northern Virginia.  Jose is well trained in the latest techniques currently used in our office, including Itero (our exclusive digital system that replaces the use of impression materials) and Invisalign (the clear system for orthodontics). He also adds to our daily practice his excellent clinical skills in endodontics and all phases of restorative dentistry, including working with dental implants.

Juan C Loza, DDS  

Dr. Juan Loza is maried to Dr. Lillian Carpio, a Periodontist in McLean.  They reside in the area with their two children, Melissa (10 years old) and Fiorella (1 year old).  Dr. Loza's credentials include five years as Post Graduate Program Director at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  He is a Board Certified Prosthodontist with a degree from the University of Maryland.  He also has a PhD from the University of Buffalo.  Dr Loza is an active member of the American Dental Association, American College of Prosthodontics, and locally, he is proud to belong to the GFBPA.
